Over the years, Samanantar has actively worked in various sectors, engaging in street dramas, public awareness campaigns, research, and activism to address pressing social and environmental problems.

1. Street Dramas & Public Awareness Campaigns

    • We have used street dramas as a powerful medium to educate and engage the public on various social issues. These performances have been instrumental in:
      ✔ Raising awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and destigmatization.
      ✔ Educating communities about the effects of environmental pollution and waste management.
      ✔ Addressing social evils such as domestic violence, child labor, and gender discrimination.
      ✔ Encouraging civic responsibility, sanitation, and public health awareness.

      By taking our messages directly to the people through interactive performances, we have been able to spark conversations, change mindsets, and inspire action.

    • One of our most impactful initiatives was our campaign against the Bikram Tempo, a highly polluting diesel-powered public vehicle that was adversely affecting public health and the environment.

      🔴 The Problem:

      • Thick black smoke from these vehicles caused breathing issues, asthma, and lung diseases among the public.
      • The excessive pollution deteriorated air quality in Kathmandu, affecting both pedestrians and commuters.
      • The lack of awareness and regulation allowed these vehicles to continue running despite their harmful effects.

      🟢 Our Actions:

      • We mobilized the public to protest against these vehicles and demand cleaner alternatives.
      • Through awareness campaigns, street plays, and community meetings, we educated people about their health risks.
      • Other social organizations and activists joined the movement, increasing pressure on the government.

      ✅ The Outcome:

      • The issue gained national attention, and as a result, the Bikram Tempo was eventually banned.
      • The government and private sector introduced electric and cleaner alternatives, reducing air pollution.

      This victory showcased the power of community action in driving environmental change.

    • Our commitment to environmental protection extends beyond anti-pollution advocacy. We have initiated several programs to promote sustainable living and natural conservation, including:
